Dramatically improved light levels

ROLLS-ROYCE PLC - During a recent project within a Rolls Royce high precision metal parts production facility, not only were savings of 70% in electrical energy achieved, but as soon as the project commenced, operatives from other parts of the facility started asking for Eluma to be implemented for their areas. What they saw was that lighting levels had been dramatically increased by Eluma.

Operator benefits

In addition to the substantial maintenance benefits delivered by Eluma, which obviously help to reduce the time, financial and personal stresses on your maintenance team, Eluma also provides an industrial or warehouse solution which will help enhance the working environment of all of your operatives.

A lighting solution which is close to daylight

Particularly where high pressure sodium fittings (yellowish, "street-light" type output) are in use, the working environment is not comfortable, especially in relation to close work, reading of labels on pallets and certainly colour differentiation.

The light delivered by Eluma is very close to daylight. This creates a greatly improved working environment for operatives.

Reduced glare, reduced shadowing, no scalloping

The total lumen output of a metal halide or high pressure sodium is from one "point source" and hence creates significant glare and shadowing. This not only creates a working environment where headaches and eye strain are inevitable, but also can make most operations difficult.

This is especially relevant within a warehouse scenario, where a forklift driver may be trying to access pallets at 6m to 16m. He/she will be moving from high glare, to darkness where scalloping is created along the vertical faces of the aisles. Not only is this a difficult scenario, but it can have serious health and safety ramifications.

The output of Eluma is distributed along the entire face of the luminaire and hence glare, shadowing are vastly reduced and scalloping eliminated within the aisles of a warehouse. The vertical face of the aisle will now be one "daylight/white" wall.

No flicker/strobing and no broken glass on failure

Many conventional lamps flicker or strobe when they are close to failure. Additionally it is not uncommon for an HID lamp to implode. Not only is strobing at best very unpleasant for site operatives, but falling glass at 150°C from a height of 10m or more is a serious health and safety issue. This is in fact why many insurance companies insits that conventional industrial light fittings should be enclosed.

When an Eluma lamp finally fails it will just go out; no flicker, no implosion. In fact as two lamps are controlled by one ballast, two lamps will go out. This means even in the event of failure, 50% of the luminaire is still lit and in many cases during daytime can automatically "ramp-up" to maintain the desired light level.
